Drummondhill
The Drummond Hill development transforms the former Scottish Rural College site into a carefully balanced mix of restored heritage buildings and new high-quality homes. At its heart is Drummondhill House, a Category B listed villa dating from around 1890, now sensitively converted into six apartments. The listed Gate House has also been restored and extended to form a family home, ensuring the historic character of the estate remains central to the scheme.
Alongside these heritage conversions, 20 new dwellings – including detached houses, townhouses, cottages and apartments – have been designed to complement the villa and landscaped setting. The architecture combines traditional proportions and detailing with contemporary living standards, creating a cohesive neighbourhood that respects its context while offering variety and individuality.
Bracewell Stirling Consulting led all stages of the design process through to delivery on site. The project has been recognised nationally, receiving awards for both architecture and residential development at the 2023 UK Property Awards.
