Community Sports Hub
Bracewell Stirling Consulting is leading the comprehensive redevelopment of Oban Lorne RFC’s facilities at Glencruitten Drive, delivering a phased masterplan that will transform the club into a modern, inclusive, and sustainable community sports hub.
Developed in collaboration with Oban Lorne RFC, Argyll and Bute Council, and the local community, the 10-15 year plan sets out eight phases of improvement. Phase One focuses on the refurbishment and extension of the clubhouse, creating new gym, physiotherapy and function spaces, alongside six upgraded changing rooms. A 100-seat grandstand with accessible viewing areas, dugouts, and improved floodlighting will enhance both the player and spectator experience.
Future phases will expand the facilities further, including an all-weather warm-up pitch, compact athletics provision, resurfaced playing grounds, and new infrastructure to improve access. The scheme also integrates renewable energy installations, such as solar panels and wind turbines, to reduce costs and support the club’s net-zero ambitions.
Our role encompasses full architectural and planning design services, technical delivery, and facilitation of community engagement. The project reflects a shared vision to strengthen the club’s role at the heart of Oban’s community while ensuring its facilities remain resilient and accessible for generations to come.
