Aparthotel
Bracewell prepared the design for the conversion of a former British Legion building in central Inverness into a contemporary hotel. The proposals set out the adaptive reuse of the existing three-storey structure to create 18 en-suite bedrooms in a mix of king, twin, and accessible formats, alongside high-quality guest amenities.
The ground floor layout provides a welcoming reception, communal lounge and gaming space, meeting rooms, and a breakfast/self-catering area. Supporting facilities include staff offices, laundry provision, bike storage, and multiple WCs, ensuring the building functions efficiently for both guests and operators.
Accessibility is embedded throughout the design, with accessible bedrooms, compliant circulation routes, and protected fire escape corridors. Sustainability measures are also integral, with roof-mounted solar panels and provision for a Tesla Power Wall to support renewable energy generation and efficient energy management.
The proposals balance retention of historic character with sensitive adaptation, reinstating original window openings, adding rooflights for natural light, and reconfiguring internal spaces to meet modern hospitality standards.
