Elizabeth Crescent

Client – The Highland Council
Dornoch

The Elizabeth Crescent development in Dornoch delivers two completed phases of high-quality affordable housing designed by Bracewell for The Highland Council. The project provides a mix of family homes, accessible bungalows, and cottage flats, arranged to reflect the local character and complete the residential edge of the town.

Phase 1 established a strong design framework and landscape structure for the site, while Phase 2, fully completed in 2024, continues this approach with 12 new homes, including the addition of cottage flats to broaden the housing mix.

The design responds to the site’s setting through simple, well-proportioned forms that maintain views and connections to the surrounding landscape. Streets prioritise pedestrians, with integrated parking and provision for electric vehicle charging. A coordinated landscape and drainage strategy reinforces the green edge, protects existing trees, and enhances biodiversity.

Together, the two phases form a cohesive and sustainable neighbourhood that meets a range of housing needs within a sensitive Highland setting.
