Clocktower Building
The Clock Tower project reimagines a prominent listed building in Glasgow’s Townhead, converting it into eight residential flats above a ground floor commercial unit. The design balances sensitive conservation with contemporary adaptation, breathing new life into the historic fabric while ensuring its continued role within the urban streetscape.
A heritage-led approach guided the project, with a strong emphasis on stone repair, shopfront restoration, and the careful specification of traditional materials. Original timber detailing was retained, natural slate used for roof works, and new windows designed to match historic profiles, ensuring continuity with the building’s character.
The resulting scheme demonstrates how adaptive reuse can unlock the potential of listed buildings, providing high quality homes and active ground-floor frontage while strengthening the architectural identity of Castle Street. The project exemplifies the practice’s commitment to integrating conservation with contemporary urban living.
