Little Kerse
The Little Kerse project in Grangemouth transformed the former BP Social Club grounds into a comprehensive sports facility, delivered in two phases with a focus on both community use and sensitive site integration. The first phase provided synthetic outdoor football pitches, which quickly became a hub for local sport, supporting East Stirlingshire FC, Falkirk Juniors, Syngenta Juveniles, and over 40 youth and community teams. The pitch layout was carefully positioned to connect with pedestrian and cycle routes and Helix Park, while addressing planning constraints including green belt policy, flood risk, and proximity to existing infrastructure.
The second phase introduced an indoor sports facility, featuring a full-size indoor pitch, dedicated changing rooms, and a café for users and spectators. Designed by Bracewell Stirling Consulting in collaboration with Galaxy Sports, the development incorporated sustainable and energy-efficient strategies, including low and zero carbon technologies, while meeting planning conditions related to environmental remediation and heritage considerations.
The Little Kerse facility provides a flexible, year-round sporting hub that integrates outdoor and indoor provision, enhances local recreational infrastructure, and supports wide-ranging community engagement.
