Waitrose
We provided architectural services for Waitrose’s first new-build store in Scotland, delivered in collaboration with Marshall Construction. Located at Newton Mearns, the 36,000 sqft development was at the time the retailer’s largest Scottish store, with a 25,000 sqft sales area and parking for 180 vehicles.
The project marked a significant step in Waitrose’s expansion into Scotland, forming part of the company’s wider UK growth strategy. Designed as the second phase of the £30 million Greenlaw Neighbourhood Centre, the store sits at the heart of a mixed-use development that has brought new retail, leisure, and community facilities to Newton Mearns.
The building’s scale and layout were carefully considered to meet both operational requirements and customer experience, creating a modern retail environment that anchors the wider masterplan while establishing a strong regional presence for the brand.
