Urban Designer / Masterplanner

Bracewell is looking to expand its Strategic Design + Masterplanning team with the appointment of a talented Urban Designer / Masterplanner.
As a growing architectural practice, we help clients unlock sites and create sustainable, distinctive and deliverable places across Scotland and the UK.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team working on a diverse portfolio of residential, mixed-use and strategic development projects. From strategic land promotion and vision studies through to masterplans, development frameworks and planning submissions, you’ll help shape places from the earliest concepts through to delivery.
Working closely with our Strategic Design + Masterplanning Lead and wider architectural team, you’ll develop imaginative, robust and commercially deliverable design solutions that respond to planning policy, landscape, movement, infrastructure, biodiversity and community aspirations.
We’re looking for someone with strong urban design and graphic communication skills who enjoys turning complex site opportunities and constraints into clear, compelling and well-considered masterplans. You’ll enjoy working as part of multidisciplinary teams, building trusted relationships with clients, consultants and local authorities while helping to shape successful project outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree in Architecture, Urban Design or a related discipline, with a postgraduate qualification in Urban Design desirable.
- Experience of residential and mixed-use masterplanning projects.
- Excellent written, verbal and graphic communication skills.
- Strong design, analytical and presentation abilities.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, SketchUp and Revit.
- An eye for visual storytelling and the ability to communicate ideas through compelling graphics and presentations.
Bracewell operates from studios in Stirling, Inverness and Oban, with this role ideally based in Stirling. You’ll collaborate across all three offices, benefiting from the knowledge and experience of our wider team while helping to shape nationally significant projects throughout Scotland and beyond.
